Ranked status

What ranked and unranked mean for a community, and how to ask for ranked status.

Every community starts unranked. Its races run like any other: drivers sign up, the field is split, results are published and the season standings count them. What an unranked race does not do is change anyone's ELO or Safety Rating.

A ranked community's races do change them, on the whole platform. Because a driver's ratings follow them from community to community, the platform team grants ranked status by hand, once a community has shown that it runs real, fair races.

Where you stand

Your community's page has a Ranked status card. For an unranked community it shows the numbers the reviewer looks at:

Fact	What it counts
Races with results	Races whose results were published.
Different drivers	Drivers with an account who appear in your race results.
Largest field	The most cars in one race session. A race needs at least 6 drivers to be ranked, so a community whose races never reach that would gain nothing from ranking.
Published seasons	Seasons that are active or finished.
Discord or website	Whether drivers and the platform team can reach you.

None of these is a hard requirement. They are what a person reads before deciding.

Asking for ranked status

Open your community's page and find Ranked status.
Under Ask for ranked status, write a few lines: who you are, how long you have been racing together, how you handle incidents, and where to reach you, for example your Discord invite.
Select Request ranked status.

The card then shows that the request is waiting for review. Only owners and admins of the community can send a request or see the answer, and a community can have one request waiting at a time.

Tip

Run a few races first. A request with races, results and a real field behind it is much easier to approve than one from a community that has not raced yet.

The answer

The answer appears on the same card.

Approved: the card says Ranked, and every race from then on counts towards ELO and Safety Rating, if at least 6 drivers take part.
Not granted: the card shows the reason. You can send a new request when things have changed.

Ranked status can be taken back if a community's races stop being fair, for example if results are manipulated or incidents are not dealt with.
